About David

Hello, my name is David. As a graduate student intern, I bring a steady, calm, and relational style to the counseling room, where my aim is to help people heal and grow in a safe environment through increasing their engagement and connection with themselves and others. I strive to provide a safe environment for people to engage their inner world in a new way - with curiosity and compassion.

I am committed to working with diverse populations on a range of issues, including anxiety and depression, trauma, men’s issues, spiritual doubt, and existential issues. My approach to counseling is flexible - tailored to your needs and goals - and grounded in two core assumptions: That we have an innate capacity for healing and resilience that becomes accessible in safe relationships; and that emotional health is not the absence of discomfort, but courageous engagement with the full range of our internal experiences while moving toward what matters most to us.

I am pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Richmont Graduate University after a decade of high-stress, high-output work as a corporate lawyer. I hold degrees from the University of Georgia and New York University School of Law. Alongside my counseling studies, I provide wellness and performance coaching for first responders, where I support police officers and firefighters in living out their mission by offering skills, tools, and support to balance their personal and professional lives, improve well-being, and enhance resilience.

Knowing firsthand the uncomfortable, conflicted feelings many have about entering counseling, my hope is to provide an approachable experience. Whatever your feelings, they are welcome, and I’d be honored to meet you.
